Running your pub.

Hi I'm Marc, a first time pub landlord in the Bristol area, I am going to write this Blog on a daily basis to show how much work goes into running a premises. But first a little about me and my place.

I run a Bar Called The Mothers Ruin, Slap bang in the middle of Bristol. We are a free house and specialise in catering for an indie/alternative sort of crowd but try to remain friendly enough to appeal to everyone.

We put on tons of entertainment for our customers, DJ nights, Live Music, Quiz Nights (with free curry), Free Tapas on Fridays, and hopefully I will show you how I got my place running again.

The Mothers Ruin (we named it that) exists in a building that has played host to many bars (most unsuccessfully), in fact probably ten in the last 15 years! It had an appalling reputation when we got there but it did have two advantages:

1: It was Cheap and Central
2: It was Free of Tie

It had NO CUSTOMER BASE so we were going to have to start from scratch, which we did, and now 18 months later I am going to tell you how we did it.

I have to go now and cook the curry for tonight's quiz, so when I get back I will post some more.
